Por Vocação - Perception Window
Asfixiated by mounting economic pressures, business closures, endless sales, and unemployment, the 2009 global recession left many people in a state of despair. Capturing the sentiment of the times, this controversial window display became an expression of perspective, curiosity and humour through its macabre use of perception, resulting in a feature on SIC news. Playing with the convention of covering shop windows with old newspaper to denote closure, we obscured the top half of the shop front, leaving the bottom unfinished, exposing a grizzly scene of dangling legs and a toppled stool – or so it seemed. For those bold enough to look, not everything was as it appeared.
