Paul Smith PS SS12 Looks

The Paul Smith PS looks for the current season bring out the collection’s workwear and sportswear references. Relaxed but durable fabrics are used to underline the workwear influences, acting as base for strong structured pieces, shown mainly on knitwear and outerwear.
Also present are some clean cut, sharp pieces highlighting a sportswear imprint, while the tailoring side focuses on streamlined silhouettes with neat shoulders opposing wider lapels. The use of patchwork creates a vintage feel on pieces while technical details provide a modern twist on classic garments. From washed and overdyed blue, ecru or damson, the color palette ranges over to tones of black, navy, grey and white accentuated by bright details of red and blue. As usual, click on main image to browse through the looks.

The boat shoe formula is pushed forward with a few well crafted details like the folded cuff used to channel the leather lacing, the hand sewing and stitching on the vamp or the contrast natural leather welt running around it.
Proposed in dark green leather and brown suede, matched with brown or blue soles, these are two excellent options for your Summer footwear, going equally well with pants or shorts.

Look Back Into the Future

With Summer on its way and our swim suits already available at the shop, we decided to take a look at how swimwear was perceived back in the 50′s. This uncanny fashion show held in 1951 and featuring designer Dale Cavana’s creations, was the epitome of “ultra modern beachwear” at the time, but it might as well be today’s. In an amazing presentation comprising such contemporary elements as leopard prints, hand painted motifs, stripes on stripes combinations or studded accessories, we can’t help to think that that entourage was given a glimpse into the future. By the way, just take a close look at the facial expressions of the ladies in the audience…

Do you mind the gap?

We’re currently preparing to spruce up our online image a bit. For some time now, there’s a handful of things we’re not totally satisfied with so there’s a need to make some updates.
One of the things that’s been causing a lot of debate at the shop’s back office lately is wether we should lose or not lose the gap in our website and blog main pages. We kind of like it and ever since we first talked about online layout, this was always thought as a trademark. On the other hand, however, the gap has been suggested to cramp navigation a little so we’re seriously thinking about letting it go.
Any thoughts welcome…

Margiela Contrast Silk Pocket Tees

Always keeping up with a highly creative and more twisted side of things, Maison Margiela introduces us their own version of the contrast pocket tee featuring the same silk patterned fabric they’ve used on the SS12 pocket squares. The t-shirts are offered in both black or grey, cut from premium cotton and with other details including a ribbed crew neck and Margiela’s signature white basting stitches at top back.
Although there’s not so many things you can do to have a t-shirt stand out just the right way, the gifted people at Margiela manage to make it happen… again.

New Balance Window

It was only appropriate to commemorate the return of New Balance to the shop by dedicating one of our windows to its timeless sneakers. With a constant flow of new models coming in, as well as old ones in different shades, we decided to play around with the variety of colors we have in stock and convey a message of individuality and self expression: choose your own. To do so, we customized a few defective pairs by painting them over and creating a paint track through the window and store front. Here’s how it turned out…

ts(s) SS12 Looks

Taking advantage of standout fabrics like high-density cotton gabardine, lyocell cotton ramie or Indian pigment dyed madras plaid, designer Takuji Suzuki brings us a new selection of well cut and amazingly constructed garments for SS12. A recurring theme with ts(s) is the reference to work clothes, well stated by the presence of items such as the tool apron, the cropped pants or the Samue shirt jacket, with this one being acknowledged as the work clothing of Japanese Buddhist monks. Work mentions aside, the below styles largely reflect the the designer’s sensitivity as well as the brand’s forward and unique take on men’s fashion today.
