It’s not like we’re all intellectuals who only watch non-subtitled Polish film here at the shop but, we do appreciate the wide cultural span the world has to offer as much as the next guy. While on our last video exploits, we came across The Perfect Human, a 1967 short film made by Danish poet and film director Jørgen Leth, depicting a man and a woman doing their daily routine in an all white background. A beautiful and stylish simple film surely Margiela would like,… we do too.

Our friends over at Boglioli have just sent us this exclusive preview of their special collaboration project with Kolor to help the victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake. The result of this creative partnership is a two-piece capsule collection of garment dyed jackets, available in cashmere and high performance cotton, bringing together the fine Italian tailoring, innovative fabrics research and garment treatments Boglioli is distinctively known for, and Kolor’s conceptual and deconstructed designs for the sophisticated, fashion-forward consumer. Featuring a limited production of only 600 pieces worldwide, all proceeds from the sale of the two jackets will be donated to Save the Children Japan. We are happy to say we will be one of the few shops who will be carrying this. Arriving late October.

Converse and American rock ‘n’ roll designer John Varvatos team up again to deliver their limited edition sneakers for AW11. Adding up to this wildly successful collaboration, are two new models for this season; the JV Pro Leather Oxford Lace-ups, a low top sneaker in dark olive and the JV Pro Leather High-Tops, in dark brown. Both feature waxed suede uppers, leather lining and off-white sewn rubber soles.

As fragance addicts, we’re always on the look for the next release from our brands, eagerly wondering what blend of scents is going to blow us away. This time around we have to hand it to Comme des Garçons very latest: Chalayan Airborne. From a collaboration with iconic designer Hussein Chalayan comes a fresh, invigorating, unisex fragance, aimed at capturing the odorific essence of both time and place. Named after Chalayan’s AW 2007 collection and inspired by his journeys from Cyprus to London, Airborne represents the methamorphosis of Mediterranean elements upon clashing with the urban environment, adapting themselves to this energetic and synthetic scenario.
Top notes: neroli of Tunisia, lemon from Syracuse and bergamot
Middle notes: lentiscus, juniper berry
Base notes: incense, musk and cedarwood

While browsing through our endless stash of vintage photos this one instantly caught our attention. Such a striking contrast between the simple clergy vests and the dapper outfits on these young men, proudly sporting their double breasted sportcoats as if cruising the streets at Pitti. Just take a look at the boy on the left: cuffed shorts, unbuttoned white shirt and peak lapel DB jacket…perfect outfit for those last Summer days.

For AW11, the family run brand Buttero, hits us again with some pretty impressive footwear styles, with the fresh new models perfectly embodying the brand’s core values; quality and craftsmanship. As part of our first delivery, we showcase the strong silhouettes on these desert boots and shoes, that feature some incredible tones on the vegetable tanned leathers and waxed suede uppers.
