Raf Simons AW11 Fitting Video

By now, you’re all perfectly aware of our overwhelming passion for all things Raf Simons. Every season, the iconic designer’s creativity is taken to the limit as he insists on setting new standards, reinventing classics by means of unusual fabrics, shape, proportion and cut. The AW11 collection, timely named “Rise of the Craftsman, Fall of the Prince” reflects his obsession with silhouettes while incorporating his own unique vision of classics such as printed sweatshirts, parkas or duffel coats, essential to those attending the “Dead Prince College”. Easing the unnerving wait until the first items arrive at the store, here is a video portraying the fit on some of the outstanding pieces of this collection.

New for AW11… Hixsept L’oiseau Gris

The addition of new brands to our portfolio is always the result of a long and somewhat painstaking process. Finding one that resonates with our taste and overall aesthetic while bringing a fresh, original perspective to the table is no easy task. After all that effort, it’s only natural we’re excited to share the newcomers with all of you.

Created by Aurélien Arbet and Jérémie Egry, Hixsept provides a refreshing take on menswear by merging tailoring with the French duo’s background in arts, design and photography. The collections reflect their creative process, using textiles as a visual interface for storytelling. The result of mixing all these distinct influences, is a combination of updated minimalism with interesting plays on color and fabric combinations.

While we eagerly await their first drops for the upcoming season, here are a few samples from the SS collection.

Paul Smith AW11 Video

A video presenting Paul Smith’s awesome winter styles, like the silver down jackets, raw edge shirts and zip lapel jackets. An AW11 collection inspired by the individual style and work of legendary avant-garde musicians such as Frank Zappa, with a focus on tailoring and strong, extreme variations on the shirts, knits and outerwear – which also draw inspiration from the uniforms of early space adventurers. Followed by the catwalk show itself, some nice backstage footage and absolutely killing soundtrack, all this was featured and filmed last January, … on the bright side of the moon.

Paul Smith AW11 now available here.

Mensweek Diaries… Adam Kimmel Showroom, Paris

One thing we like to do here at the shop is to dream out loud about things we wish we could do if only we had a couple of million to spare. Something that’s on everybody’s talk lately (mano a mano with the Rolls Corniche convertible) is to buy the whole entire Adam Kimmel collection, season after season, to fit into our wardrobe styles. Those of you surprised by the redundancy in the last phrase you shouldn’t be, because every single time we go to Adam Kimmel’s showroom the hardest thing we have to do is to decide on things to leave out of our order so we can stay on budget. This goes to show how hard we have fallen for this guy. While the rest of the team is at the back shooting the new Adam Kimmel AW11 stuff, we end the SS12 Mensweek Diaries feature, previewing some of the brand’s key styles for next Summer. And don’t you worry Mrs. Sobieski, not in that way…

Mensweek Diaries… Raf Simons Showroom, Paris

We saved the best for last. Wait, can we really say this?! Well, maybe we didn’t meant it in that way but there are certainly some designers who connect to us in a special way and Raf is definitely one of them. We’ve been carrying the brand for some years now and after the drop out of Hell Mighty Lang (as we sometimes like to call him), Raf occupied that empty space left in our hearts holding the torch for unrivaled, forward and inspirational fashion. Not quite sure if this makes any sense to you all but at least some of you get us crystal clear (hopefully). Having said this and admitting being completely bias to his stuff, there’s maybe not much else to say about the new designs, vibrant colors and exciting new shapes we saw a the showroom for SS12. Anyway, here are the pics.

New AW11 Looks

We have been receiving a lot of new stuff from the brands we work with these days and working like busy bees in order to get it up on the website. The first AW11 deliveries include the likes of Acne, Margiela, Paul Smith, Our Legacy and Band Of Outsiders. With Summer at its peak and 30 degrees out there, it feels a little strange to be posting wintery stuff but that’s the way the fashion calendar works and we have to roll with it. Thinking of that, we’ve had this kind of wacky idea about promoting the new season items. Our thought was, why not take it to where the people are? Yes, you’ve guessed it right, the beach. Here’s how that contrast worked out in our fist ever fashion shoot. Yay!!
Don’t forget to also check the shop for more serious details about these and other great pieces.

Acne Winston Long Coat and Band Of Outsiders White Shirt.

Our Legacy Blazer, Our Legacy Cheyenne Check Shirt and Acne Max Man Ray Jeans.

Paul Smith Zip Lapel Jacket, Paul Smith Raw Edge Shirt and Paul Smith Chinos.

Paul Smith Duffle Coat.

Acne College NY Sweater, Band Of Outsiders White Shirt and Paul Smith Chinos.
