Green Window

After enjoying such a great feedback with last year’s Moving Window for the Buttero sneakers, we couldn’t help ourselves and try it again this year. Once all Buttero footwear is made from vegetable tanned leather, (which btw, is the most non toxic, environmentally friendly type of leather available), the starting point was to go green on this one. With this in mind, we challenged our friends and shop collective Os Suprematistas, who gladly joined us with their dedicated hard work and peachy plant selection. Together, we came up with the idea of using the items as containers for the the plants, after ensuring careful protection. As with all ideas, it derived and expanded a little and we ended up also using some Property Of… bags, a 19th century net hammock and some aged wooden flooring to set up the perfect backdrop.

A special thanks to Pedras & Pêssegos.

New Brand… Alyssa Norton

Alyssa Norton makes beautiful jewelry using silver and brass chains and wrapping it with colorful or monochromatic threads and suede stripes. Her original approach derives from a background in fine art and jewelry studies and from her early career as a painter, having evolved from simple forms to experimentation with contrasts. Enjoying worldwide recognition, her pieces are constantly featured on both fashion press and film. Her work has a kind of ethnic feel and the wearer’s response is very close and personal. We have totally surrendered, now it’s your turn…

See more Alyssa Norton here.

Denim Gallery Biarritz T-Shirts SS11

As part of their ongoing collaborations with worldwide artists and designers, Denim Gallery Biarritz present their new t-shirt collection for SS11. This season’s theme is Love so the prints reflect that. Some do it more clearly like Mick and Marianne, designed by Charlotte Delarue after a Rolling Stones photo. Others, in a twisted way, like Guillotine, designed by the Partel Oliva duo. There’s even one for all you cinema lovers out there called Le Mèpris, designed by Sylvie Jaunet, after the Godard film with the same name. In sum, the usual cool and easy t-shirts with great prints and made from nice detailed organic cottons.

Check them out here.

Margiela Line 10 Slit Neck T-Shirts

Coming up with new approaches to cornerstone items such as a t-shirt is not an easy task but, we somehow rely on the same people to do the job. Surprising construction and detail is what Maison Margiela is all about and they reveal it again with these new spring summer tees. The neck opening features a boat shaped slit created by an unusual yoke that runs all the way to the sleeves, upper chest and back, with no shoulder seams. Made from soft lightweight jersey cotton, these amazing short sleeves are available in navy and light grey.

Record Covers… Classic Styles

A more classic somewhat jazzy and often one man band approach to our record covers feature, which is back by popular demand. Oh yeah!
Starting off with the endlessly cool black suit white t-shirt look, briefly followed by various width lapels and ties, with the latest ranging from monochromatic to colorburst and, never forgetting the neat pocket square touch. As the week starts, some good reasons to listen to the records or simply admire the artwork.

Paul Smith Hawaiian Camo Shorts

“It’s a jungle out there” – some of you might still remember this song from 90′s british phenomena Bros, who by the way, where a skinny looking threesome sporting slashed rolled up jeans and leather jackets, with hairstyles and clean looks much in the likeness of nowadays greatly admired The Hurts. Anyway, the only reason why we’re sharing this important chunk of music history is the print on these amazing shorts by Paul Smith. Named Hawaiian Camo, the shorts feature a bunch of tropical flowers and animals also reminiscent of Henri Rosseau’s wild life paintings. Whatever may be your reasons for liking them, these can either make you look fierce or, quite preppy when paired with a nice ts(s) selvedge shirt and a Neil Barrett cord belt like below.

n.d.c. at Micam

We’ve been carrying n.d.c. for some years now, not only for the amazing shoes but also because they are a very nice group of people. Enrique Corbi, head designer for the brand, is a hard working guy who isn’t afraid of getting his hands dirty, down at the production line in the portuguese factory where they produce some of their styles. Last time he did it, he passed by the shop to proudly show us a very special pair of bespoke shoes they are launching in AW11 and that we hope to be previewing exclusively here sometime soon. We caught up with the rest of the team at Micam last February, where we saw the rest of the collection and made our order for next fall. After that and among the japanese buyers, we also had time to see their nice picture wall in detail, documenting the history of the brand and the people who make it.

Check out n.d.c. here
