August Sander
Born in 1876, August Sander was a german portrait and documentary photographer. In his portraits, and specially in his People of the
20th Century series, he documented the archetypal contemporary man of the time through the clothes, hairstyle and gestures and within
a society context that ranged from farmers to artists, musicians or beggars. He is commonly considered the most important german portrait photographer of the early twentieth century, both by his individual approach and unusual quality of his portraiture.
