Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samurai, follows the common gentleman’s rule that there should be at least one white shirt, a dark suit and
a tie in every man’s wardrobe. On winter time, we can easily add a long coat or mac trench to that list. The movie provides a clear
and sharp view on how men can dress in a refined yet simple way, with Alain Delon’s effortless style helping a little, of course…

Following a tradition of precisely tailored clothing, Neil Barrett does it again for AW10 with his Iconic Hybrid Collection. We’re not sure
what it means precisely but we sure like the way he mixed different kinds of fabric and created double layer effects with the collars and lapels. Leather is a returning guest in his collections and this time showed up either in the jacket sleeves or as patch jobs on the t-shirts and trousers. The usual color palette of blacks, greys and whites for a definitely sleek rock ‘n roll vibe.

For those of you accustomed to Mr. Simons clean cuts and tailored silhouettes this short jacket will come as no surprise. Made in a midnight blue heavy wool, this double breasted jacket features a magnetic snap closure. The snaps double at the back and can be used to make it even more fitted, further enhancing its already superb shape. But that’s just us talking…

This is the Found Photo that inspired our current Window. We really enjoy group photos, having quite a few in our archive.
There’s something special about group pics and how one’s individuality always stands out in them. It can be a matter of attitude,
clothes, haircuts or overall style.

Not a year goes by that, by this time of the season, we don’t make a Window specially dedicated scarves. As inspiration doesn’t come easy, we try to even things out by working real hard on the subject. Eventually, something comes up. With the idea rolling, we have to find ways to make it happen, as frequently as possible in a low tech kind of way. Creativity is the key, with sourcing being another important part of the equation, as we’ve shown in this earlier post. For this window, inspiration came from an upcoming Found Photo
about some school kids having their picture taken. Let’s say, that was just the starting point…

For the current AW season we have a few new brands up our sleeves. One of them is leather wizard Natalia Brilli. The belgium designer introduced us to her signature accessories a while back and we’ve since wanted to have them at the shop. Our first pick of the collection
is this 15″ size laptop case that features a molded keyboard at the front, double zip closure with leather pullers and retractable handles.
While a light inner padding keeps your laptop shock safe, the buttery soft lamb leather makes it really easy on the hands.

Available in heather grey and grey with navy and gold stripes, these knits from our L.A. favorite Band Of Outsiders will probably
make you look soft. But don’t worry, only as soft as the 100% cashmere they’re made of. The knits feature a button-up split collar
that lets you fit a shirt underneath or wear it rolled up. Boasting the made in Italy kind of quality you would expect, these babies
are waiting for you at the store.

Understanding fashion and personal style is also understanding how we are constantly being influenced by the world around us. Who are the people that influence the way we dress, what we buy and ultimately what do we like, directly or indirectly. This short film from R+I creative tries to give us some clues about what’s going on in the world, who are we influenced by and what are the ideas and trends we follow and why.
So, the main question would have to be, are you already under the influence?! Heaven knows, we certainly are…

Although this parka kind of reminds us of Bruce Willis in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Unbreakable, we thought it was too good not to
give it a go. The classic simple design highlights the traditional English wax cotton fabric it’s made of. The parka is straight fitted but
only just so for you to wear your favorite cable knit underneath and features two front flap pockets, a two way zip and a button tab.
A beautiful tan colored leather string provides adjustment at hood and hem. Now go on and (re)watch the movie, we know you’ve
been wanting to since you started reading…

Masculinity was the main idea behind Maison Martin Margiela AW10 collection. The usual subversive plays and tricks are to be expected with patterns ranging from stripes to checks, prints and white finishings. Reversible duffle coats and trench coats, classic cut wool pants, nappa leather t-shirts and replica biker jackets were key pieces that accentuated the strong male silhouette. Come find out more at the shop…

Preparing for our next window. Yeah, you guessed right, it has something to do with chairs…
Usually there’s a lot of research work involved and this time was no exception.
