Singing in the Rain

Among the lots of videos we regularly exchange with friends, every once in a while, there’s that one we find really great and that we instantly crave for the chance to post. This one was sent by our friend and, since today is the first day in months that it literally rains like if it’s winter, we had to put it up. Gene Kelly genuinely captures the real sense of style in this movie, elegantly dressed even if under heavy rain. For us, it actually feels really nice (the rain and all) since with so many great new clothes hanging here at shop, we finally
have the chance to grab some and actually wear them!…

Latest AW10 Drops… Duffle Coats

An(other) outerwear classic must have, the duffle coat provides shelter from the cold, especially during the mornings and long wintery nights. Accustomed to the british cold and humidity, Sir Paul Smith surely knows what he is doing when it comes to design such an important piece. The brand’s duffle coat is made from a wool blend fabric, has a foldable tab collar, storm flaps and two large flap pockets and button tab cuffs. The black toggles on the front hide a concealed placket zip. The check color pattern is amazing featuring grey and dark navy hues. Although not so acquainted with cold weather, L.A.’s finest Band Of Outsiders comes out with its own version, made from a 50% wool and alpaca mix. Incredible to the touch, this midnight blue duffle has double breasted wood toggle closure, front patch pockets, oversized hood and back vent. It might not be the case right now (’cause it’s still hot) but, one day soon you’ll thank us for the tip…

Buttero AW10 Hiking Boots

The Buttero family have done it again, creating amazing styles for the upcoming season. Part of their latest drop, are these Hiking Boots
that feature premium vegetable tanned leather uppers, full leather lining, metal eyelets and come with strong leather cords.
This time we went downtown, where the city’s granite grounds make a pretty good test to the extra grip Vibram soles. Don’t be fooled by
their sturdy looks, these boots are also amazingly comfortable.

The Hyena Men by Pieter Hugo

Between 2005 and 2007, south african photojournalist Pieter Hugo documented an itinerant group of nigerian minstrels, called Gadawan Kura, who travelled the country performing shows with trained hyenas and other animals and are known as the Hyena Men.
The powerful imagery created by this body of work rests not only upon the supposedly savage tamed animals or its almost monochromatic desert surroundings but, to a greater extent, on the protagonists attitude and ornamented apparel. Colorful long skirts adorned with tassels and covered by some kind of strapped leather waist accessory, metal rattles over the ankles, headbands. All of this is mixed with massively common and urban contemporary pieces like tank tops or rubber flip flops. By looking at these pictures, we cannot help but to refer to the recurrent tribal/ethnic inspiration in the work of many of today’s top designers and brands.
These are highly influential looks that, whilst in its charismatic original offbeat state, assuredly disclose a few of nowadays trends.
