Found Photos X The Sartorialist Vintage Photos Contest

As you may all know by now, we started a Found Photos category last year, aiming to show timeless style and elegance throughout the years.
As you may also know, The Sartorialist, also started a Vintage Photos Contest last month. We were so pleased to hear about it that we immediately felt the urge to participate and sent him some of our best photos. Amongst the thousands of photos he received, he picked one of ours and featured it on the blog. (see it here)
We are obviously very proud of this and can’t help but to feel that we are somehow on the right track…

p.s. This was the first pic we sent him. It was taken on a boat somewhere, and aside the cool trench look, we think the 2nd guy really looks like Mr. Scott Schuman… Check out the comments section below to see some of people’s thoughts on the photo.

Paul Smith Wallets

Paul Smith always had a love for displaying beautiful images inside his wallets. From gorgeous pin-ups to sporting goods, bikes and even pictures from his own shops one image is recurrent, the Mini. It is so because Sir Paul has developed a special love for the iconic british car model, personalizing it with the brand’s distinctive color stripes.
But now, he’s putting his beloved Mini in a tight spot, suspending it on a building crane, just waiting for anyone with just enough guts to save it.
Available in two different sizes, the wallets are already hanging at the shop. Get the picture?!…

Malcolm Mclaren 1946-2010

Malcolm Mclaren died yesterday. Much can be said about him,… social agitator, fashion avant-guardist, performance artist, godfather of punk, he is indeed a legend by his own right. Always in the forefront of social and (sub)cultural movements, the extent of his creative genius and highly influential work are almost impossible to sum up. The visionary man who did the Vogue before Madonna, managed the Sex Pistols and owned a clothes shop along with Vivienne Westwood is now considered to be pop’s ultimate iconoclast.
Along with his multiple hits, and after SP’s “Anarchy” and “God Save the Queen”, this is probably one of the songs we’ll most remember
him by. For us, this video truly testifies his importance as a trendsetter of innumerable styles as well as it documents one of his best periods.

Aquarama SS10

The history of the Aquarama brand is based on the extreme care of detail and quality of workmanship that express the “made in Italy” authenticity and tradition. Their jackets and blazers use high-tech and natural fabrics that range from new light nylons to precious fresh cottons. Some are fully reversible and all come personalized with particular finishings such as cast colored metal buttons or embroidered pocket squares. With Spring now at full speed, these strike us as pretty good answers in our demand for lighter garments.

New Window in the works…

Windows are very important to us and we’re always trying to create something new and exciting for each one we make. With that in mind,
we made a field trip to our friend João’s company, to sort out some ideas for the upcoming one. His company – Italcor III, creates solutions for industry from simple conveyor belts for your car engine to large airport luggage transport systems. What we most liked in our visit was
the factory production line with all those machines, each one custom built for a special purpose.
New window, conveyor belts,… are you already trying to figure out what’s next?!
These pictures might give you some clues…

Acne AW10 Denim Film

Fashion film is becoming more important for ACNE. They’re interested in the creative dialogue between fashion and film brought
by the internet, live streaming age.
For AW10, fashion photographer Andreas Larsson created a film revolving around the topics of androgyny, self love and restraint.
The end result is a strong visual impact film that provides an audacious reflection about (believe it or not) denim.

Still looking for that Check Shirt?…

The check shirt has always made part of men’s wardrobe but surely never as heavily as these couple of seasons. From Our
Legacy to Band of Outsiders, almost every brand we carry has one, and this plaid wave shows no signs of slowing down.
Check, plaid, madras,… our guess is you can call it what you like, as long as there’s already one in your closet.
If that’s not the case, here’s a little something to help you out!

Some 70′s Record Covers

It’s not always clear to us, or easy to explain what we see in record covers. One thing’s for sure, there’s always some kind of connection we make with them, as we can approach them in so many different ways. When it comes to menstyle, we like the ones below for their masculine suit and tie looks, street punk attitude, preppy haircuts or even for a certain kind of joyful lunacy that hot weather and summer always brings.
The point is, record covers can really relate to masculinity in a sense and, we can continuously track down today’s fashion influences by them. Following our previous post about Brazilian covers, we think these 70’s ones truly reflect that.
