Buttero SS10

The Buttero family company started their shoe production in the 50′s. They’ve come a long way since their first pair of spaghetti
western
boots and developed the brand into a more fashion oriented style, while maintaining the original handcraft methods and
the artistic know-how of Italy’s Tuscany region.
For SS10, they updated their sneakers collection using a selection of washed dyed suedes and the smoothest of leathers. They also
came up with some sleek boat shoes and a powerful pair of loafers, adding a strong upbeat character to this classic men’s shoe.
These styles are already in store so grab yourself a pair, while you still can…

The Photos of… Mike Disfarmer

The curious eccentric man who made up his name, claimed to have been born of a tornado and apparently spent a lot of time
measuring his feet, is today recognized as a master of the studio portrait and an important chronicler of rural America in the first
half of the 20th century. With a direct and simple approach, Mike Disfarmer’s photographs are as penetrating as any in the history
of photography and hence an honesty and humanity that few photographers can even hope to rival.
It has been said that, his genius was the ability to capture without judgment, the essence of a people and a time.

To us, he’s a real inspiration to what we try to show in the Found Photos section of the site.
The many references in menswear present in these pictures, like the collarless shirt, the working boots or the perfecto jacket
allow us to traceback important pieces of today’s wardrobe. The contemporary hairstyles, such as the parted hair or the amazingly
prominent pompadour of the guy in the first picture make us undoubtedly think that these looks, with their overall attitude and style,
are just too powerful to be ignored…

Raf Simons x Linda Farrow

Raf Simons continues his collaboration with Linda Farrow this SS10. The collection, based around futurism, incorporates classic masculine sunglasses given a harsh new line by use of hard angles, screw pins, metal detailing and rimless frames. Playing with a classic inspired wayfarer the results produce different adaptations some with softer fronts versus hard angles and strong lines on a further frame.

Picnic Group

Weren’t we all missing a good old picnic shot?! This one truly caught our eye as these guys really look great in their
suits and ties. A classic look for an otherwise relaxed attitude. The little flowers on the jacket’s lapels really wrap it up.

Robert Longo… Revisited

As some of you might remember, Robert Longo was one of the first artists we talked about here. Being certain that his work
has a far more vast reach than the “Men in the Cities” series, this remains the one we most relate to. A retrospective of his
work is currently showing in Lisbon so, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, go on and check it out!
Robert Longo, Uma Retrospectiva – until the 25th of April at Museu Berardo.
